Leisure Course Schedule & Registration Information

Leisure College courses are held at various locations throughout the district and include non-credit general interest classes for personal growth and enjoyment. Our educational day trips offer unique travel locations and discoveries you will be discussing long after you arrive home. Class and day trip schedules are published twice a year. Please check back soon - spring classes will be announced in mid to late January 2019. New fitness classes are listed below.

Fitness Classes -

Muscle Conditioning

Instructor Joan Pacheco

Eight-week class to strengthen, tone, and stretch major muscle groups while improving flexibility, and range of motion. Exercise utilizing a variety of equipment.

*Interested in giving Muscle Conditioning a try? Join us on January 15th at no cost to observe or participate in the class. Students will be required to sign a waiver.

Use multiple muscles providing an all-inclusive workout to gain core strength as well as flexibility and balance in this eight-week class.

Walking track, free weights area, and training equipment are available. Open to community

**Prior to beginning any fitness program, individuals should contact their physician for medical  evaluation and clearance to participate.






Day Trips


*Any educational day trip activities, dates or times may change with little notice due to inclement weather or other reasons. A decision to cancel will be made as early as possible. The trip may be offered again dependent on other available travel dates. Space is limited for day trips, a minimum of 10 registrations required. Comfortable walking shoes with good tread are recommended, as we may walk long distances on varied surfaces. Shuttle bus departs from Carl Sandburg College’s Main Campus. Each participant will be required to complete a travel waiver.

Payment/Drop/Cancellation Policies

Payment Policies:

Payment in full is due at the time of registration for Leisure College classes.

Dropped Classes & Refunds:

Minimum class size requirements are set prior to the start of each class. Please provide as much advance notice as possible should you need to drop a Leisure College course. Per Carl Sandburg College policy for Corporate & Leisure College, classes dropped the day before a class start date can obtain a one hundred (100) percent refund. Dropping classes the day of class or thereafter will result in a zero (0) percent refund.

Please note that special cancellation dates may apply for educational day trips or other specific course offerings, as identified in the course schedule. For day trips and Wine Club only, you may call to register a substitute after the cancellation date. Refunds will not be provided.

Cancellation Policy:

Sandburg's Corporate & Leisure College reserves the right to cancel classes or educational day trips due to low enrollment numbers or because of other unforeseen circumstances. If a class is cancelled, you will be notified and receive a full refund from the business office. During weather related events, individuals may be prevented from entering campus or off-campus Sandburg facilities. Notice of a decision to close or delay opening Sandburg will be communicated as early as possible through local radio/TV stations, postings to the Sandburg website, and Facebook pages. After registering for a class, any changes to email addresses or phone numbers should be communicated to the Corporate & Leisure office for notification purposes.

Sandburg's Leisure College offers classes at various locations throughout the district and include non-credit general interest classes intended for personal growth and enjoyment. Prospective instructors do not need teaching credentials, however, they should be driven to share their skills and be comfortable speaking to a group of students. Class lengths vary depending on the the content and instructor availability. Two class schedules are produced each year for Fall (August - December) and Spring/Summer (January - July).
