Illinois State Food Service Sanitation Manager Certification

This 8-hour course prepares new employees or those needing recertification for the Illinois State Food Service Sanitation Manager Certification (FSSMC) exam. Sandburg uses the ServSafe curriculum and FSSMC examinations. Food sanitation courses are offered each month on the Carl Sandburg College Main Campus in Galesburg. Classes are held in the Center for Manufacturing Excellence (CME) building, 2051 Tom L. Wilson Blvd. - turn into Sandburg’s main entrance from South Lake Storey Road and look for the second building on the left-hand side of campus. Outside directional signage will also be posted on class dates.

You may also register in-person by visiting the Center for Manufacturing Excellence (CME) building on Carl Sandburg College’s Main Campus, Monday - Friday, from 8 a.m. - 5 p.m. Individuals must be pre-registered to attend a class.

Please note per Carl Sandburg College policy for Corporate & Leisure College, classes dropped the day before a class start date can obtain a 100% refund. Dropping the day of class or thereafter will result in no refund. For a food sanitation course, individuals may reschedule (permitted one-time) if the Corporate & Leisure College staff is notified 24 hours prior to the class. Individuals who miss their class date will not receive a refund and will be required to pay the full class fee again.

Students who do not pass the food sanitation exam may retake it for a $70 fee.
